The palm is firmly stitched with leather layered up to 3/8 think at robust needle pusher. The thumb opening is very thick and well contoured over other typical palms.
Absent is the stitch used to size the palm to the sailor hand (almost like a shoe lace). The needle case is in very good condition with minor nicks and one chip at base which can be seen in photo. Additionally there is one age split in needle case cover that can also be seen in photo. Overall this is a classic well preserved sailors kit which provides a snapshot in time.
I would estimate this is from the late 1800's to early 1900's.
